Just a few months after its initial launch I had to make some big changes. The main challenge was to resolve the wordpress subcategories problem. In my fist attempt I tried to use display: inline-block in the css to create a both horizontal and vertical list of categories. But there is one big problem: Internet-Explorers don’t support this. IE showed its users just a normal, vertical list which destroyed the whole layout. So I had to completely overthink my approach.
The photographer and me were of the opinion that it would be a much better idea to say good bye to subcategories. From my point of view, wordpress makes it just too difficult to customize them, in case you don’t want to mess around with the wordpress source code.
So I created a new solid website, without any subcategories and with an even cleaner design than it was before. We finally made the transition from black to white background. The wohle site uses the free font titillium. I think it provides a very modern look.
I removed the silly start page which was completely different from the other pages. That was somehow confusing. Now, there is no “homepage” any longer. Every site could be the homepage. It is the decision of the user.
